Submitted PhotoThis year’s Jefferson County recipient of the $500 Illinois Sheriff’s Association scholarship is Addysen Denault, RIGHT. Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard, LEFT, assigned his eight School Resource Officers to review essays about school campus safety written by each scholarship applicant. The authors’ identities were unknown to the SROs. The SROs then voted on the essay that they believed was best, and the top vote-getter was awarded the scholarship.
