Four people are dead after a vehicle crashed through an after-school center in Chatham on Monday afternoon. Chatham Police Deputy Chief Scott Tarter said first responders were called at about 3:20 pm to the YNOT Outdoors After School Camp on Breckenridge Road just north of Walnut Street. Tarter said the vehicle crashed into the east side of the building, entering the structure and exiting through the west wall.

The Dominican Sisters of Springfield announced on Monday that they are set to hold a public prayer to honor the life of Pope Francis and to “pray for the Spirit’s intercession in the search for his successor” this Sunday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, 1237 W. A 40-year-old male biker was hit by a vehicle today near 2500 Dinius Rd.The Sangamon County sheriff’s office says the pedestrian was riding his bike westbound and was struck by a silver van. The van left the scene prior to the arrival of officials. The suspect is an older white male in his 70s/80s. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, and a hat. The van left the scene going westbound. A mirror and plastic were collected at the scene from the suspect vehicle.
