    May 24-There were home runs in bunches between the No. 1 seed LSU Shreveport Pilots and the No. 10 Grand View Vikings of Iowa in the teams' first-round matchup during the Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field on Friday. LSUS hit three home runs and beat Grand View 6-3 to improve its record to a perfect 55-0 on the season.     May 22-The Harris Field outfield was brimming with kids and players from each of the 10 Avista NAIA World Series teams. There was music sounding and the general loud excitement of children as kids from ages 5-12 were let loose to play and have fun with the athletes during the different events and drills at the annual American Baseball Coaches Association Kids Clinic sponsored by P1FCU on Wednesday.

    May 15-The Lewis-Clark State Warriors were up by a run going into the ninth inning and just needed three outs to continue on in the NAIA Opening Round, presented by Avista on Wednesday, and give themselves a chance at a berth in the Avista NAIA World Series. Instead, it was the No. 22 Wayland Baptist Pioneers who won in walk-off fashion and rushed Harris Field as if they had just won a national title. The Warriors' season ended with a 7-6 loss to the Pioneers.

    May 10-The Lewiston Bengals had one way to make it into the state baseball tournament - win three straight games at the Super Regionals on Friday at Church Field or be eliminated. The Bengals won their first game against the Burley Bobcats 7-6. Then, they lost to the Super Regional-winner Vallivue Falcons 3-1. The Lewiston baseball season is officially over. How it wentThe first game was a tight matchup for most of the duration. As soon as one team took a lead, the other team took it back.
