Apr. 11—It's hotly debated in the sports world if momentum is real or not. For the Moscow Bears, all that arguing means nothing — momentum is very real. In a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader, the Bears used an 11-run seventh inning to topple the Lewiston Bengals 15-7 in Game 1. That momentum shifted over from that run explosion and helped carry them to an 8-2 victory in Game 2 on Thursday at Church Field in Lewiston. Apr. 5—Scrum, ruck, maul, try and tackle. Fans curious about the sport of rugby can witness it in action at the Thunderdome 7's event at 1:20 p.m. today at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome in Moscow. Fans can enter the Kibbie Dome starting at 1 p.m. and admission and parking will be free. AdvertisementThe Thunderdome 7's will be a 12-team tournament running throughout the day. Mar. 30—Fans who arrived at Harris Field in the morning on Saturday had no idea they'd still be in the stands eight hours later if they were to stay all 26 innings of a marathon baseball doubleheader between Lewis-Clark State and Oregon Tech. LC State broke its program record for the most innings in a single game in the second game, which went 17 innings, in a 6-5 loss. The Warriors won the first game 6-3.

The Vandals worked out in front of professional football scouts for UI's Pro Day on Thursday at the Kibbie Dome. Idaho players present included defensive backs Corry Thomas Jr., K.J. Trujillo, Kyrin Beachem and Tommy McCormick, defensive lineman Jahkari Larmond, linebacker Mathias Bertram and tight end Mike Martinez.

Mar. 26—In 2024, Moscow won a state title in baseball for the first time since 1984. It was the Bears' first state title in any sport since girls golf won a state championship in 2011. Moscow previously made it to the Idaho Class 4A state tournament in 2023 but went 0-2. In 2024 the Bears wanted to make history — and they did just that. Now, the Bears are hoping to continue that momentum into this season. The 5A Bears are 4-3 so far after splitting a doubleheader with 6A Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday.

Mar. 19—LC Ice Arena is in jeopardy. The board of LC Ice Arena in Lewiston came to the conclusion at the beginning of the year that the chiller, which keeps the ice cool, has gotten too tough to maintain, so it is time to replace or repair it. The Lewis Clark Amateur Hockey Association realized it needed to start a big fundraising effort to keep LC Ice Arena alive.

Mar. 14—In the inaugural "Battle for the Bats" against Clarkston, Lewiston's pitching only allowed one hit en route to earning the baseball rivalry's golden bat trophy and having the entire team sign a purple baseball. The Bengals beat the Clarkston Bantams 10-0 on Thursday at Lewis-Clark State's Harris Field. In the season opener for both teams, the Bengals (1-0) had an emphatic lead for the entirety of the game over the Bantams (0-1).
