After a morning of flooding rain across parts of Acadiana, we’ve gotten a much needed break in most areas this afternoon. This will allow the water to recede in the areas hardest hit. A few pop-up storms will remain possible through the evening hours, but hopefully, most of these storms will remain to our north, away from the areas hit hardest this morning. We’re also monitoring storms across Texas.

Storm chances will increase by this evening as a wave of energy moves in from southeastern Texas. Like yesterday, some storms could be strong and produce frequent lightning and locally heavier rainfall. Rain chances will linger into the evening hours, especially across northern areas of Acadiana and central parts of the state. For your Thursday, rain chances will be in the 50% range during the afternoon hours. Temperatures once again peaking in the mid-80s during the afternoon.

Insane readings from aircraft in the eyewall of #Milton. Flight level winds of 155 knots, which equates to 160 mph at the surface with the 10% reduction. SFMR, with high rain contamination, is off the chart, estimating nearly 200 mph winds. This would probably be wind gusts. https://t.co/vRFFcnFNO5
