    ERWIN — Freshman Brooklyn Sparks scored 14 points and Unicoi County spoiled the season debut of Addie Wilhoit with a 41-37 defeat of Tennessee High on Tuesday night in the Devils Den. Unicoi County improved to 1-1 in the Upper Lakes Conference and 9-9 overall. Tennessee High jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Blue Devils answered with a 21-0 run and were in control until things got hairy late due to missed free throws. “I thought our kids played well,” Unicoi County coach Brandon Broyles said.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-0 lead, which proved to be the difference in a 71-61 victory. Senior 6-foot-4 guard Bradley Gouge (22 points, 11 rebounds), junior guard Stephen Hensley (20 points, 11 rebounds) and senior 6-foot-6 post Reagan Cash (15 points, 13 rebounds) each had a double-double for Crockett (1-0, 12-4).
