Dear reader,I heard from many of you who were disappointed when we ended the separate puzzles section in The Post-Standard a few months ago. Advance Local, our parent company, decided to streamline the offerings of comics and puzzles in all of our newspapers across the country, and unfortunately, we were one of few with that section.

Dear reader,The weather has felt more like fall lately, but Central New York’s spring prom season is in full swing, and syracuse.com is capturing the memories for many local high school students. We first started taking photos at local proms in 2012. “We had started with one dance per school (the biggest) and only a handful of schools,” said breaking news editor Steve Billmyer, who helps oversee our prom coverage along with editorial assistant Brenda Duncan.

Dear reader,Workforce development has been a hot topic among Central New York’s government officials and local business leaders, particularly since Micron announced its $100 billion plan to build four microchip manufacturing plants in Clay over the next 20 years. Micron will employ around 9,000 people when the plants are fully operational, and another 40,000 jobs are expected to be created in the region as a result of this monumental investment.
