    WORTON — The Blood Bank of Delmarva made a stop at Kent County High School on Tuesday, April 15 for the second blood drive of the academic year sponsored by the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. According to NHS advisors Lauren Shaw and Johanna Cohen, 48 out of the 54 available appointment slots were filled. Most of the blood donors were KCHS students and staff.     CRUMPTON — An adult female was transported to the hospital in Chestertown for treatment of injuries sustained in what officials described as a “vehicle fire” on Friday afternoon, April 11. According to a news release from the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the injuries were not life-threatening. The occupant of a Sunline Solaris camper trailer, identified in the news release as Dawn Reed, discovered the fire at 2:18 p.m. in the 100-block of Dogwood Court in Queen Anne’s County.

    WORTON — Kate Cannon scored the winning run with two away in the last of the seventh inning Wednesday as Kent County edged Pocomoke in varsity softball, 16-15. That was four batters after she had plated the tying run with a base hit to left field. “It feels amazing. We needed this,” Cannon said of the Trojans’ first win of the season.

    WORTON — Senior Kate Cannon and junior Michelle Menequin (No. 10) celebrate Kent County High School’s 16-15 triumph over Pocomoke on Wednesday afternoon, April 9. This was the Trojans’ first win of the season. Trailing 15-14 heading into the last of the seventh inning, Cannon singled to left field to plate Paige Miller with the tying run and ultimately scored on a passed ball with two away to complete the come-from-behind victory.

    EASTON — Senior right-hander Jace Conner came back to finish what he started, retiring all three batters he faced in the last of the eighth inning to salvage a 6-5 victory at Easton on April 8. Conner started on the hill for the Trojans, completed three full innings while throwing just 30 pitches and then swapped positions with shortstop Tanner Beck with the score knotted at 1-1. Conner returned to the mound in the eighth in relief of Beck, with two runners on and no one out.
