I too lost faith in the Monarchy when l was still living in England and wept that Sunday morning when the death of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed in Paris was all over the front pages.

    I’m beginning to sound like a socialist abolitionist after dipping into news coverage of King Charles’ dash to Canada to perform for his carbon obsessed friend, Prime Minister Carney.     This King Charles pageantry galls and upsets. Maybe irrationally so? Born in 78, Charles & Di’s wedding is the first major news event I remember. I was raised to revere the royal family. Odd considering both parents fled a post-war, economically-depressed UK. They were part of the 70's, working-class exodus. They left Scotland for Canada because they knew they'd have a hope in hell of breaking the working-class, poverty loop. They intentionally left the council-housing trap.
