The Tulsa Housing Authority is preparing an emergency plan that could cancel vouchers for 690 tenants after rent increases led to a $3 million shortfall in voucher funding and a federal program seemed unresponsive. THA board members took no action on the issue during their meeting this morning, but they discussed the situation and seemed prepared to vote on an emergency plan in May. Voucher funding remains level each year for the agency.

As Tulsa Public Schools navigates the aftermath of a critical audit by State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd, Kyra Carby won the runoff election for the Board of Education’s District 3 seat to succeed Jennettie Marshall. Carby recieved 561 votes (66.6 percent), beating out Dorie Simmons, who recieved 281 votes (33.4 percent). The two friends had advanced to a runoff from a four-candidate┬áprimary.

With all precincts reporting, pastor Bryan Logan clinched the Republican nomination for the open State Senate District 8 seat in eastern Oklahoma, earning 55.56 percent of the 5,205 votes cast to defeat tag agent David Nelson. Meanwhile, to the north, the House District 74 Republican primary in Owasso is headed to a May 13 runoff between Sheila Vancuren and Kevin Norwood.
