WASHINGTON — Firefighters rescued a dog while they battled a house fire in Southeast DC on Sunday. The DC Fire and EMS Department first tweeted about the blaze at 12:49 p.m. ─ which was located in the 1600 block of W Street Southeast. When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke and flames were showing through a second-floor window. The fire was brought under control, and firefighters rescued a dog that was inside at the time.

At 5:47 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 Block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim hasn't been released.

WASHINGTON — A police helicopter conducting a search on the George Washington Memorial Parkway forced three flights to make a second approach at Regan National Airport on Sunday morning. According to the U.S. Park Police, the helicopter was dispatched to the GW Parkway to help search for potential unaccounted-for people after a crash. The Park Police Aviation Unit was dispatched around 11 a.m. to assist with that crash, officials said.
