Just over 93,000 people packed the MCG for the second Preliminary Final, with the attendees overwhelmingly Geelong supporters. The Cat's Captain Patrick Dangerfield won the toss and chose to kick to the Punt Road end. Rain fell during the prematch "Welcome to Country ceremony" but stopped again before the first ball-up. The opening score of the night came in the fifth minute of the game when Rhys Stanley's hurried shot from 50 meters (55 yards) drifted left of the goal post for a behind.

The Blues entered today's match against St Kilda inside the top eight, with one hand on a finals spot, but if they were to lose today then they could be overtaken by a victorious Fremantle who play Port Adelaide in the final home and away match of the 2024 season. The Irish Banshees were up against their neighbours from across the Irish Sea, the Great Britain Swans. The Swans arrived at the semi-final undefeated in their three round matches, while the Banshees had suffered one loss to Canada's Northern Lights in round two.

DAY six of the Transatlantic Cup saw round three of the men's competition contested between the six competing nations under warm sunny skies at Humber College Toronto. Up first were the Irish Warriors and the USA Revolution. The Revolution last defeated the Warriors in international competition at the 2005 International Cup in Melbourne. The Irish went into this match undefeated in the tournament so far and maintained a small lead through each of the three quarters.
