    When I was in elementary school, we celebrated Valentine’s Day the same way every year: the classroom valentine exchange. The night before, I excitedly cracked open the pack of valentines I’d picked out with my mother. I whipped out a class list, examined every card thoughtfully and decided which design would go to which classmate. I carefully addressed each card in my best handwriting and attached a piece of candy with tape. The next day I was be downright giddy with anticipation.
