BYU-Idaho is considering an age cap for approved housing REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) – A modification to the institution's website was made on Feb. 6 showing two separate links to housing for students under 25, and students 26 and older. These links have since been taken down. Brett Crandall, Public Affairs Director for BYU-Idaho, said the change is “not official.” He sent us this statement:BYU-Idaho is looking at several options to accommodate its increasing student enrollment for Fall 2025.

Black ice and wrecks on I-86 DECLO, Idaho (KIFI)—Black ice covered the freeway around the I-86 and I-84 interchange east of Declo Friday night, according to viewer, Rick Poisel. Rick, said multiple wrecks were on either side of the freeway. He also sent in the above photo of emergency crews working on an overturned semi-truck. Drivers should plan out extra time during these weather events and avoid driving if at all possible.

Speed limit being lowered near Rigby The following is a press release from the Idaho Transportation Department. RIGBY, Idaho (ITD) — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) on Thursday will be extending the limits of a lower 45 mph speed limit zone on SH-48 about two miles east of US-20 to Road 4200 East. ITD crews along with the city of Rigby are placing multiple new signs, including driver speed feedback signs, all in an effort to improve safety along this stretch of SH-48.

Lane closure planned between Fort Hall and Chubbuck IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – The Idaho Transportation Department wants you to know that northbound and southbound lanes will travel on the same side of I-15 next week. This is so crews can demolish and remove bridge structures. “These changing traffic patterns are expected to occur between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the week of January 20, weather permitting,” ITD said on Facebook. The lane closure will happen on I-15 between Fort Hall and Chubbuck.

Woman rushed to hospital after being struck by car IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a vehicle accident where a pedestrian was hit near 45th East, Wednesday evening. Deputies said a car was trying to back up onto 45th after turning into the wrong driveway. A woman wearing dark clothing was trying to stop traffic to let the car back up when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle and was thrown into a nearby canal.
