Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu yesterday apologised to Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court and Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN over his misconduct at the last proceedings of his trial on the terrorism charges. Kanu pleaded for forgiveness and promised to be of good conduct throughout the duration of his trial.

The Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, yesterday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), for “criminal defamation” of the reputation of gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo. The magistrate ordered the Nigeria Police Force together with other law enforcement agencies to arrest VeryDarkMan and produce him in court to answer to the criminal allegations leveled against him.

The Supreme Court yesterday reserved judgment in an appeal filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu seeking to nullify his removal as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The apex court reserved the judgment after taking arguments from Anyanwu’s counsel. Kingsley Njemanze (SAN) and Chief Paul Erokoro SAN who stood for Aniagu Emmanuel.

The Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday fixed November 3 for arraignment of a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Odoh Eric Ocheme and two others who allegedly obtained the sum of $6,230,000.00 from the CBN with purported letters from the Presidency and Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). Trial Judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo rescheduked the arraignment following the inability of the federal government to produce the three accused persons before him.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday, adjourned the money laundering case instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to March 6 and 7, 2025, for continuation of trial. The court adjourned after the prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, called his two witnesses, one on subpoena.

Lawyers and Senior Advocates of Nigeria, were divided over the weekend on the legality or otherwise of the indefinite adjournment of the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu by Justice Binta Nyako. The Federal High Court in Abuja had on Monday adjourned Kanu’s trial indefinitely following Kanu’s insistence that the judge cannot preside over his case, citing her previous recusal.
