Lindsey Sparks sat on the side of UCLA’s beach volleyball courts for two and a half hours each day, unable to participate in practice yet required to attend every one. Sparks was not far removed from becoming an NCAA Beach Volleyball champion, having played a pivotal role in the Bruins’ title-winning run as a freshman in 2019. As a member of the fifth pairing Sparks had secured one of the three wins needed in the championship match, and was named to the 2019 NCAA All-Tournament Team.
Shah breaks 1000 points in win over Long Beach State

Senior guard Annika Shah broke the 1,000 career point mark in Saturday’s win over Long Beach State, 78-71. The Mustangs (9-10, 4-5 Big West) stay at eighth in the conference with their lone game this week, while Long Beach State (11-7, 7-2 Big West) rests at second place. Shah’s 24 points gave Cal Poly a much-needed win on the road as they round out the first half of the conference season. She hit 8 of 22 shots and went 2-9 from beyond the arc.
Cal Poly Football's Elijah Ponder to participate in East-West Shrine Bowl

Cal Poly edge rusher Elijah Ponder officially accepted his invite to the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl, announced on Monday. Ponder was named to the Shrine Bowl 1000 watchlist over the summer after leading the Big Sky Conference with 10 sacks in 2023. The Shrine Bowl is considered one of the top college football all-star games played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Shrine Bowl consists of players solely from the 2025 NFL Draft Class.

The early signing period for college football prospects started Wednesday, Dec. 11 and ended on Friday, Dec. 6. Head Coach Paul Wulff and his staff collected multiple three-star high school recruits by 247sports. The first phase of offseason recruiting has begun, with new high school signees joining the team.

Kelly entered the medical tent and exited in a sling on his left arm, suffering a shoulder injury against the Grizzlies (7-2, 4-1 Big Sky).
