McDowell County, WV (WOAY) – On Thursday evening, April 10, the McDowell County Sheriff’s office and State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Route 16 near Squire. In one car, two passengers, Richard Dillon Senior and Junior, were both found deceased. The driver of that vehicle, a woman, is in the hospital with significant injuries.

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Human remains have been found outside Charleston city limits in Kanawha County. Tuesday afternoon, Metro 911 answered a call requesting a welfare check on a body over a hillside along Walnut Gap Road. When deputies arrived, they discovered human remains. Crime scene investigators closed both sides of Walnut Gap Road between Dry Branch Road and Hope Lane. Members of the public will need to find other routes to take and expect delays.

Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – On April 13th, around 1:28 p.m., Deputy M.J. Mikles pulled over Ricky Dalton Hess of Virginia during a speeding incident. Deputy Mikles was conducting traffic control in the Big Laurel Highway area in the eastbound lanes when he spied a black sedan speeding in the westbound lanes. Milkes followed, attempting to conduct a traffic stop as the vehicle traveled down Courthouse Road.

Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – Anthony Broadnax, a 61-year-old man, has pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender after moving from Virginia to West Virginia. The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) requires offenders to register. According to court documents, from May 2021 to July 26, 2021, Broadnax lived in Beckley after he moved from Virginia.

WASHINGTON, DC (WOAY)- Six people, including children, are dead after a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York. This comes after a second aviation incident at Reagan National Airport. This time, two planes bumped wings while on the ground. It involved two American Airlines passenger planes, one headed to Charleston and the other to JFK in New York. Several members of Congress were on board, including Representative Nick Lalota, who posted this picture on social media when it happened.
