Honda just had a record year in 2024, with more than 400,000 sales of the CR-V thanks to the availability of a hybrid model. As the company looks forward to the new year, it has formally announced that the CR-V and the HR-V subcompact crossover will undergo some significant changes. Although the HR-V isn’t nearly as popular as the CR-V, it still sold over 151,000 units last year, making it a valuable asset in Honda's portfolio. Both models last received a new look in 2023.

Honda’s first foray into the electric vehicle market is going well, with the Prologue selling 33,000 units in 2024. The Prologue is based on the Chevrolet Blazer EV, a crossover that uses Ultium batteries supplied by General Motors. Not only did Honda's first EV outsell its own Passport, but it also managed to sell more units than every EV made by GM. Now, Honda is back with an EV of its own design, and it will wear an Acura badge on the grille.

Things are not looking good in Germany, and we're not talking about Volkswagen this time around. Audi sold fewer cars in 2024 than it did in 2023, and we’re not talking about a small decline. The company faced significant setbacks, with double-digit percentage losses for some of its models. In terms of annual sales, Audi sold 196,576 vehicles in 2024, a 14 percent drop from the 228,550 vehicles it sold in 2023.

The Accord used to be a consumer staple of Honda’s lineup; its bread-and-butter, the bee’s knees, the ace in the hole. Not so much these days. Honda has turned to the CR-V as its breadwinner, with the Civic selling nearly a quarter million units. The Accord, meanwhile, is seeing sales tumble, but Honda isn’t panicking just yet. Production priorities shift to EVsSo, what do the numbers tell us? Honda moved 162,723 Accords in 2024, or 35,000 less than the prior year's 197,947 units.
