Credit: Liv Averett / American Licorice April Fool’s Day is always day full of wacky, fake food releases that we wish were real. And this year brought us a few actual releases that maybe some folks wish weren’t. Credit: Liv Averett / Go-To Liquor Store Sure, there are a lot of exciting new Mountain Dew releases coming this year (such as Mountain Dew Cabo Citrus), but what about the Mountain Dews of yesteryear? The releases that didn’t stick? I’ve decided to crack open my Discontinued Dew Vault and try a Mountain Dew that has not seen the light of day in a few years: Mountain Dew Cake Smash.

Credit: Liv Averett / Faygo Last month, Faygo revealed that two brand new flavors were joining their lineup: Bubble Pop, a bubblegum flavored pop, and Super Pop, a pop that claims to be Superman ice cream flavored. Immediately I knew what I had to do and I jumped in the car and made an hour plus trek up to Michigan to hunt for these new flavors. I am a huge fan of anything and everything Faygo.

Hark, the herald angels sing: A new Alani Nu Energy flavor is born. This time around, we’ve got our hands on Sherbet Swirl, Alani Nu’s take on the classic frozen orange-raspberry-lime dessert. Technically speaking, Alani Nu actually made a sherbet flavor a while back—just not in their energy drink format. Alani Nutrition (the full name of the company that makes Alani Nu Energy, if you didn’t know) has offered a Sherbet Swirl pre-workout mix for a few years now.

Well folks, if you’ve been keeping an eye on the news, you may not be having a Baja Blast right now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to look forward to. That’s right, a new Mountain Dew flavor called Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus is hitting stores this month. But that’s not all—Guacamole Doritos (yes, the very same ones from back in 2006) are making their much-anticipated return. Let’s just say, April is shaping up to be a big month for Mountain Dewers everywhere.
