The eight community dancers of this year’s Boca Ballroom Battle kicked off their fundraising campaigns this week with a festive gathering at The Addison. The dancers, dubbed the “Royal Collective” in line with the British Invasion theme of this year’s event, were joined by co-chairs and alumni dancers to launch their respective campaigns to raise money for deserving scholars of the George Snow Scholarship Fund.

In celebration of its centennial, The Addison has launched a campaign to raise $100,000 for local nonprofits. Like the City of Boca Raton, The Addison is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Originally opened in 1925 as the headquarters for architect Addison Mizner’s development company, the building has since enjoyed a storied history as a venue space for weddings and celebrations and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

May is National Water Safety Month, and the West Boca Raton location of Pool Scouts is partnering with the Hope Floats Foundation to provide free swim lessons to underserved children across Palm Beach County. For the entire month of May, local pool cleaning service Pool Scouts will be donating $1 per each completed service to the Hope Floats Foundation (HFF), a nonprofit that promotes water safety and education.

Old School Square is getting a new logo, and the community gets final say on the design. In March, the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and City of Delray Beach put out a call to local artists to submit their works for consideration as the new logo of Old School Square. More than 30 local artists submitted their art and after being reviewed, three have been selected as finalists.

The Delray Beach Concours d’Elegance returns for its fourth year to Old School Square on Sunday, April 27. Automotive enthusiasts can look forward to an afternoon perusing a collection of vintage cars from 15 states and six countries valued at more than $200 million, including one of the most expensive cars in the world, a $36 million Ferrari. Visitors will also get the chance to hear from two Le Mans-winning guest speakers, Luigi Chinetti, Jr. and Derek Bell.

After nearly 25 years in Mizner Park, the Boca Raton location of Ruth’s Chris Steak House will soon be closed. The famed steakhouse will shut its doors on May 11, giving locals a few more weeks to make a reservation to enjoy its sizzling premium cuts. Part of the portfolio of concepts owned by hospitality giant Darden Restaurants—which also owns Eddie V’s, The Capital Grille, Olive Garden, and more—Ruth’s Chris was purchased by the firm in 2023.

The City of Boca Raton is redesigning its official flag and is seeking community input to select from seven options. The flag redesign was proposed by the Boca Raton City Council, which aims to incorporate a design that “represents our community’s heritage, values, and identity,” per a press release. Residents have until April 16 to vote for the new design, which will be unveiled as part of the city’s centennial celebration.
