Two Oakville youth, aged 12 and 15, are among five suspects arrested (all under age 15) in connection with a violent robbery and stabbing that took place in Toronto earlier this week. Toronto Police Services are reporting that on Monday, May 12, at roughly 1:50 p.m., officers responded to an incident in the area of Guildwood Parkway and Livingston Road. Officers say two victims were reportedly assaulted and stabbed while waiting at a bus stop.

Member of Parliament Anita Anand has been newly appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs under Prime Minister Mark Carney's new cabinet. Carney, who announced a new cabinet lineup today (May 13) in Ottawa, appointed the Oakville-East MP as foreign minister, replacing Mélanie Joly (who now serves as Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions).

Oakville town staff have informed the public that last week's suspended council meeting, set to discuss Oakville's controversial protest by-law proposal, will continue at a new meeting next Monday, May 12. The new meeting, however, "will be held virtually" according to a press release, in place of the in-person meeting last Thursday that was adjourned early.

The OE Banquet and Conference Centre was packed last Saturday night with steel pan music, jerk chicken and the who's who of Halton for the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton's (CCAH) annual May Soiree gala. CCAH hosts the gala each May as a fundraiser for their youth programs, including summer camps and music workshops.
