Arizona Diamondbacks closer Justin Martinez is undergoing Tommy John surgery, skipper Torey Lovullo confirmed to Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Friday. “It’s official, he’s going to be done for the season,” Lovullo said. “(The timing of the surgery) is TBD. Arizona Diamondbacks closer Justin Martinez is expected to miss an extended period of time due to an UCL sprain suffered Monday, skipper Torey Lovullo told MLB Network radio. Lovullo adds Martinez is seeking a second opinion on the injury. “The concern is high. He’s going to be lost for an extended period of time,” Lovullo said. “It could be 13 months, it could be 12 months. It’s something right now that’s going to be very, very substantial. It’s very unfortunate.
