Officials installed new turnstiles at GW dining halls over winter break, changing how students pay for their meal and enter the halls. Now when students enter dining halls in Thurston and Shenkman halls, they will tap their GWorld card on a reader before two GW-branded turnstile doors swing open to let them into the hall. The same turnstiles automatically open for students in the reverse direction as they exit the dining halls.

Vice Provost for Enrollment and Student Success Jay Goff said the University met all its enrollment targets for the 2024 admissions cycle despite delays in federal aid applications and the Supreme Court’s decision to ban race-conscious admissions policies. Goff said at a Faculty Senate meeting Friday that the Class of 2028 met and slightly exceeded GW’s enrollment targets despite national data showing a 5 percent in first-year enrollment this fall.

The College of Professional Studies’ Center for Excellence in Public Leadership and the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation will unveil a certification program for youth development professionals early next year. The certification will offer leadership coaching and hands-on experience to professionals working in youth programs to further their mentorship skills, according to a D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation press release.

The Graduate School of Political Management announced its new interim executive director, its first since 2022, last week, according to a University release. Angela McMillen Ayres, an executive at nonprofit Tusk Fundraising, was named as the school’s interim executive director as it embarks on a search for a permanent director, according to the release.
