    OXFORD, Miss. – (wire reports) Ole Miss baseball senior Mason Nichols has been named one of the two recipients of the 2025 Walter Byers Graduate Scholarship, one of the NCAA's highest academic honors. Nichols has now been awarded the highest academic honor by both the NCAA and the University of Mississippi, being named a recipient of the Taylor Medal last week. Nichols has been a mainstay in the Rebels' starting rotation this season, making a start in every weekend series so far.

    No. 6 Ole Miss (27-9, 9-6 SEC) baseball welcomed the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers (31-5, 11-4 SEC) to Oxford over the weekend, dropping two-of-three games after losing, 10-8, Sunday afternoon. However, despite ultimately losing the series, the Rebels played the defending National Champions almost as tight as anyone could ask. In 27 innings over the weekend, the Volunteers and Rebels totaled 18 runs each.   Ole Miss managed to set up Sunday's rubber match after pulling off an 8-5 victory in Game 2.

    After dropping Game 1, 3-2, against No. 5 Tennessee Friday night, No. 6 Ole Miss baseball was able to bounce back into the win column on Saturday to even the weekend series. The Diamond Rebels won Game 2, 8-5, setting up a winner-takes-all Sunday matchup. With the win, Ole Miss moves to 27-8 (9-5 SEC) while Tennessee drops to 30-5 (10-4 SEC) on the year. Senior righty Riley Maddox proved to be battle-tested once again in his latest start on the mound.
