(KBTX) - No. 2 seed Texas A&M softball walked off No. 7 South Carolina on an error in the fifth inning, 12-4 in the SEC tournament quarterfinals in Athens, Georgia, on Thursday. The Aggies’ run-rule victory sets up a Texas A&M-Texas matchup in Friday’s semifinals. The two in-state rivals did not face off in the regular season in the Longhorns’ inaugural season in the league.

(KBTX) - No. 6 Sam Houston softball’s run in the Conference USA Tournament ended with a 3-2 loss to No. 2 Western Kentucky on Thursday in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Bearkats took the lead in the top of the fourth inning with a two-run home run from Morgan Holliday. The Hilltoppers answered in the bottom of that frame and took the lead for good with a sac fly from Kendle White that plated Maci Masters. WKU’s Kennedy Stinson got the scoring started with a solo home run in the second inning.

(KBTX) - For the first time in program history, Texas A&M softball will have a double-bye in the SEC Tournament in consecutive seasons. Last year, in head coach Trisha Ford’s second season in Aggieland, A&M began the conference tournament with a 3-2 win over South Carolina in the quarterfinal round and then ultimately fell to Florida in the semifinals. This season, the Aggies find themselves waiting to play until the quarterfinals again.

He won a tiebreaker over Walnut Grove’s Grant Clapp and Lake Creek’s Tyler Sanford for having the lowest back-nine score.
