Fort Myers Beach officials announced the town will be removed from probation under the National Flood Insurance Program after meeting the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s requirements. According to a news release from the town of Fort Myers Beach, its removal from probation will go into effect on Nov. 18. Officials said the town completed the five action items that were set by FEMA in 2024.

The Florida Everblades are moving on to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs after securing a 4-3 OT win over the Jacksonville Icemen.It was another game that took some extra time to finish, but the Everblades came out on top again and notched a series sweep over the Icemen. All four games of this series ended in OT.This is the fourth consecutive year that the Everblades eliminated the Icemen in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

A 24-year-old Lehigh Acres man died in a two-vehicle crash that shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near mile marker 131 at Daniels Parkway. The crash happened at approximately 1:46 p.m. Friday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2012 Nissan Maxima driven by the Lehigh Acres man and a 2023 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 21-year-old North Fort Myers man were traveling along I-75 in the left lane at a high rate of speed.
