A major new investigation has revealed the scale of global profit-shifting strategies centred in Ireland, with nearly $1 trillion in intellectual property held in the country by multinationals. Research led by (opens in a new window)Professor Aidan Regan from the UCD School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe) found that the value of intangible assets – such as patents, software and licensing rights – held in Ireland has tripled since 2014.

2 May 2025 A total of €86,789 has been presented to the Irish Cancer Society thanks to the efforts of this year’s UCD Relay for Life. The money raised will go directly towards funding research and services of the Irish Cancer Society, such as night nurses and counselling for families affected by cancer all around Ireland. A 24-hour fundraiser, UCD Relay for Life invites teams to have one member walking, hopping or running with a baton at all times.

UCD Senior Men’s Eight won the Gannon Cup in the annual Colours Race against Trinity College Dublin. UCD Senior Women’s Eight defeated Trinity to win the Corcoran Cup. University College Dublin has won the men’s senior in the annual Colours Race against Trinity College Dublin, taking home the historic Gannon Cup for the fourth year running. The UCD Senior Men’s Eight started strong, taking an early lead before continuing to pull away from Trinity and finishing ahead by a distance.
