The Nasarawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of Dr. Joseph Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives and his wife. The couple was abducted on Monday evening while travelling to Jos, Plateau State. During the attack, which occurred around 6:30 pm between the Nunku community in Nasarawa State’s Akwanga Local Government Area and the Gwantu community in Kaduna State’s Sanga Local Government Area, a police officer assigned to the politician was killed.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Agency for Control of AIDS (YOSACA), Dr. Jibrin Adamu Damazal, said inadequate funding is one of the most critical challenges in the fight against HIV in the state. A total of 196 people have been arrested for allegedly violating environmental sanitation laws across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State. The Chief Prosecutor Officer in the ministry of environment, Abubakar Mohammed, disclosed this in Lafia while addressing newsmen immediately after the November sanitation exercise at the weekend. City & Crime reports that the Nasarawa State Government has set aside the last Saturday of every month for sanitation exercise in the state.
