    KARACHI: The ongoing cold wave in the country's financial hub has intensified with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting intermittent strong winds in the metropolis. With the minimum temperature recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius, the Met Office has said that the city's weather is likely to remain cold and dry during the next 24 hours.

    KARACHI: Forecasting another day of bleak and dry weather in Karachi, the Met Office on Thursday said the intensity of cold is likely to reduce a bit from tonight in the port city. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) recorded the lowest mercury at 8.5 degrees Celsius last night, while forecasting the minimum temperature to range from 8 to 10°C in the next 24 hours. The PMD said humidity in the air was 81% and wind was blowing at a light speed from north-east.

Clear skies and cooler nights are forecast for the next 24 hours, the meteorological department said in a statement on Friday. The city recorded a low of 16.5°C in the last 24 hours, with a humidity level of 76%. Winds from the northeast are blowing at a speed of 6km/h, adding a slight chill to the air.

The national mean monthly temperature of 20.75°C for Pakistan was significantly warmer than the country-average of 17.87°C. This stands as the highest mean temperature in November (previous record was 19.87°C in 2011) during the past 64 years.
