The homogeneous Bethe-Salpeter equation (hBSE), describing a bound system in a genuinely relativistic quantum-field theory framework, was solved for the first time by using a D-Wave quantum annealer. After applying standard techniques of discretization, the hBSE, in ladder approximation, can be formally transformed in a generalized eigenvalue problem (GEVP), with two square matrices: one symmetric and the other nonsymmetric.

Experimental and numerical studies were performed on the vibrational energy relaxation in shock-heated CO/N /Ar mixtures. A laser absorption technique was applied to the time-dependent rovibrational temperature time-history measurements. The vibrational relaxation data of reflected-shock-heated CO were summarized at 1720–3230 K.

Binary-black-hole (BBH) mergers can take place close to a supermassive black hole (SMBH) while being in a bound orbit around the SMBH. In this paper, we study such bound triple systems and show that including the strong gravity effects of describing the SMBH with a Kerr metric can significantly modify the dynamics, as compared to a Newtonian point particle description of the SMBH. We extract the dynamics of the system, using a quadrupole approximation to the tidal forces due to the SMBH.

Abstract We provide the post-Newtonian (PN) waveform for binary systems in motion along generic planar orbits at 2.5PN accuracy, in terms of the dynamical variables of the effective one-body (EOB) formalism. In addition to the calculation of the higher-order terms for all the contributions to the waveform that have been already considered in previous avatars of EOB models, we also compute the EOB expression of the oscillatory memory terms.

The interaction between the ejecta of supernovae (SNe) of Type IIn and a dense circumstellar medium (CSM) can efficiently generate thermal UV/optical radiation and lead to the emission of neutrinos in the 1-103 TeV range. We investigate the connection between the neutrino signal detectable at the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the electromagnetic signal observable by optical wide-field, high-cadence surveys to outline the best strategy for upcoming follow-up searches.
