    Hybridization plays an important role in the evolution and diversification of angiosperms, as an increase in genetic variation can be achieved through sexual or somatic hybridization between distant species. Sexual hybridization is generally conducted through cross-pollination, and the resulting hybrid zygote, which possesses totipotent potential for embryo formation, can transmit heterogeneous genetic material to the progeny.

The threat arose when Indonesia’s electoral commission tweaked policy around the country’s 30 percent gender quota on party lists, changing a previous rule that rounded up decimal figures in service of meeting the requirements.
