The council is backing a Bill seeking to inscribe nature’s recovery in legislation that has its second reading in parliament on Friday. Liberal Democrat Sarah Classick, councillor for Hengrove and Whitchurch Park, brought a Motion to support the Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill which was approved by Full Council in December 2024. The CAN Bill is designed to reverse the damage to the natural world by 2030.

After announcing its tenth edition as its last, the Bristol-born festival that comes recommended by Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has not only announced its surprise return, but also that it will move to a location well known by festival fans. Shindig, which intended to go out with a bang last year after saying it was forced to fold due to economic pressures, announced at the end of 2024 that it would, in fact, return.

Elliot Ellison-Holder is clearly dedicated to his art. The musician, vocalist in Bristol’s jazz-influenced psych-pop act Cousin Kula, created a garden from living grass in his own house. It took 24 hours and 250kgs of turf to create the set that forms a dreamlike, dystopian backdrop to the latest release from his solo project Tamasene. Ellison-Holder sings of memories, tears and loss surrounded by the grass and plants adorning his worktops, floor and surfaces of his kitchen and living room.
