If life is a feast, I want nine helpings of it. At a food festival in Delhi this weekend (February 22-23), a group of nine of India’s best chefs paired with nine artists practising different disciplines takes my desire to heart. Strawberry aachar, broccoli biscuits, a helping of tree tomatoes, apple and kosynyot chutney, plum kasundi, miso kulfi, ocean fish mousse—they’re putting everything on the table, including dishes and designs they’ll probably never attempt again.

Nestled in the lush and imposing grandeur of Defence Colony, entering Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke’s recently opened outpost in Delhi—its second after Mumbai—feels like finding calm in the eye of the storm. Walking among its sedate white interiors, I watch a man in ultramarine overalls coating a wall a powdery white. I stand near Aji V.N.’s paintings and studies in red chalk. An all-consuming red seascape leaks out of its frame.
