The choroid plexuses (CP) are highly vascularized structures that project into the ventricles of the vertebrate brain. The polarized epithelia of the CP produce cerebrospinal fluid by transporting water and ions into the ventricles from the blood and normally secrete a large number of proteins.

Most prior studies of cardiovascular (CVD) events have focused on incident events. We analyzed differences by race/ethnicity in incident and recurrent CVD events in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis from baseline in 2000-2002 through 2019 using joint and multivariable adjusted Cox proportional hazards modeling.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients have reduced bone turnover and increased fractures. Advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) impair osteoblasts and are implicated in diabetic fractures. Pyridoxamine (PM) is a vitamin B metabolite which inhibits formation of AGEs. We hypothesized that PM treatment in older T2D patients, by inhibiting AGEs, would increase bone formation. Oral PM 200 mg twice daily for one year. The primary outcome was the change in the bone formation marker P1NP.
