1 Introduction The use of geophysics in archaeology has made considerable progress in recent years, allowing the detection of buried materials dating back to ancient human activities. By using geophysical methods, archaeologists can improve their understanding of archaeological sites and ensure the preservation of cultural heritage for future generations (e.g., Piro 2008; Cozzolino et al. 2018; El-Qady and Metwaly 2018; Martorana et al. 2023 and references therein).
