When Pope Francis visited D.C. in 2015, he made a stop at Catholic Charities to talk about the importance of helping those less fortunate. “He’s a complete role model to me,” said Monsignor John Enzler, the former president and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. When Pope Francis came to visit in 2015, he remembers a speech he gave to the organization and those they help.

A suspect in a domestic-related stabbing was fatally shot by police at National Harbor in Maryland on Sunday. At 8:20 a.m. Prince George’s County police officers in Oxon Hill, Maryland, responded to a stabbing call in the 8300 block of Indian Head Highway. It was there that officers discovered a man and a woman with “critical stab wounds,” said Prince George’s County Police Chief Malik Aziz during an afternoon news conference. Before fleeing the scene, the suspect also set fire to an apartment.

A second person has been arrested in the shooting death of a boy found in a car in a Harris Teeter parking lot in Ashburn, Virginia, on April 12, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say a boy was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Ashburn and was charged with first-degree murder, principle in the second degree, and is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.

It’s going to be a windy day in the D.C. area Tuesday, with a chance of some early showers. There will be a lingering April shower Tuesday morning — but then the wind will move in. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.“The wind is the big story today,” 7News First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan told WTOP.

Every weekday at 2 p.m., students, teachers and staff at Capital City Charter School sit down to vote for one of their own for “America’s Favorite Teacher.” Jessica Williams, a sixth grade special education teacher at the school, said she was thrilled to get past the first several rounds and into the quarterfinals. “It’s been really humbling,” Williams said.
