Thousands of people gathering to celebrate WorldPride this weekend will surely bring rainbows to D.C. But the forecast is also calling for some scattered showers and thunderstorms that may have an impact on the festivities. The showers and storms start Friday night and are expected to go into Saturday morning as temperatures drop from the 80s to the low 70s. “A few storms may contain brief gusty winds and brief periods of moderate to heavy rain,” said 7News First Alert Meteorologist Steve Rudin.

It’s almost summer, and for some bugs and pests, it’s the time they start gnawing on your trees. The D.C. area had very little rain — to the point of a drought — and Lou Meyer, an arborist with the mid-Atlantic-based Davey Tree, says that’s not exactly healthy weather for trees. “When (trees) are stressed out, they’re more susceptible to damage from forestry pests and diseases, because they have health systems, like we do,” Meyer said.

Derrico Johnson, 21, Ronald Henderson, 19, Daveon Robinson, 18, and Demarco Robinson, 22, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder or armed crime of violence, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

The temperatures outside may feel cold, and that’s because they are — the colder weather this spring has broken records. This June 1 marks the coldest on the books since 1972. “June starts off with a temperature roller coaster,” said 7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans. “Some spots outside of the beltway were as low as 40 degrees.”It was 48 degrees at Reagan National Airport.
