On November 17, 2023, Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC), the Honourable Marc Miller, announced that the new humanitarian permanent residence pathway that will admit migrants from Colombia, Haiti and Venezuela is now open. IRCC has announced that beginning May 21st, 2024, the government will, through a randomized process, select potential sponsors who submitted their interest to sponsor form in 2020 to apply for the 2024 round of applications. If you submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020, you were assigned a confirmation number, which you can use to determine if you have been invited to apply for the 2024 intake.

In 2023, the Minister of Immigration announced a special temporary public policy for some Ukrainian nationals who can apply for permanent residence. This category became available to eligible applicants in October 2023. The program will be closing on October 22, 2024.
