In early November, 17-year-old Myla Chance stood on the banks of the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 700 miles from her home in Jupiter. On this stretch of the river, the Head of the Hooch—one of the world’s largest regattas—was about to take place. A senior at Jupiter Community High School, Chance has been training at the North Palm Beach Rowing Club since 2020—prompted by her father.

Golf fans who want to get up close and personal with their favorite golfers can now do just that at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens. Located on the south side of the Palm Beach State College campus, the center is home to TGL presented by SoFi, a new tech-infused golf league. The league is a collaboration between TMRW Sports (the company founded by golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and former NBC sports executive Mike McCarley) and the PGA Tour.

A burst of color greets visitors who have the good fortune to find their way into Stuart Vintage, a new boutique specializing in vintage home decor. The shop is the brainchild of Alison Manship, who worked at Matilda’s for 14 years before deciding to open her own boutique earlier this year. Manship grew up in a historic home in Stamford, Connecticut surrounded by antique furnishings. “People’s houses told a story,” she says of the neighborhood where she spent her childhood.

The line to get into Fright Nights stretches over a football field’s length down the fairground’s midway, where hundreds of eager ticketholders wait to be scared out of their wits voluntarily. A group of teens from West Palm Beach are a bubbling mix of anticipation and anxiety. “I’m terrified of everything,” says Angelina, 13. Her friends, Riley and Kairi, also 13, nod in agreement. The three of them have never been to Fright Nights. Alyssa, 15, is the sole veteran in the group.

Anthony Record has a penchant for roadside attractions. “My all-time favorite roadside attraction is in Brooksville,” says Record, 41, who grew up outside Tampa in a small town called Spring Hill and now resides in Port St. Lucie. Marla Maples sits in a lovely garden somewhere in the U.K., about two hours from Cambridge University.
