    BreakingAustralia’s third largest airline has fallen into insolvency and entered voluntary administration after a disastrous attempt to compete with Qantas and Virgin Australia. Regional Express, better known as Rex, will ground all its Boeing 737 jets and cease flying immediately between Australia’s major cities. Virgin has said it will allow Rex customers with tickets on 737 flights to transfer them to its services.

From July 12, Qantas will launch a new direct service between Perth and Paris — and just in time for the 2024 Olympics. As the only carrier to offer the route, a string of changes to the airline’s menu will be introduced — all with a French flair.

But after the shock announcement that one of the most iconic names in the cruising world – P&O Australia – would be no more from next year, one of the liner’s favourite ships has a grim fate ahead. While the Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships, which are currently under the P&O banner, will carry on sailing under the Carnival Cruise name, the Pacific Explorer ship will no longer operate in Australian waters.
