It is now under the proud ownership of Daniel Mumby and Deborah Muller, who bought the run-down property in 2024 and declare they are not just going to restore it to its former glory but make it a pub that “anyone in the local area can be proud of”.

A prize worth more than $30,000 is up for grabs for the person or business whose “big idea” is deemed the best in a Shark Tank-style competition being offered in Albury. Sharks on the Murray, an initiative of Albury Business Connect, aims to support innovation in the region and provide a launch pad to the winners in each of the two categories. They are hoping to attract individuals, start-ups or businesses who have an innovative business idea or invention to take the plunge and enter.

It was a case of third time’s a charm for the Table Top Charity Walk held on Sunday (6 April), with organisers overwhelmed by the turnout and money raised. More than 500 people took part in the six-kilometre round trip and raised $5000 for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Inc, which was the charity chosen by property owner Roger Paterson in memory of his wife, Elizabeth, who lost her life to breast cancer in 2021.

Year 11 student Mackellar Lyons has been hooking in, so to speak, in preparation for stocking a new store in Albury with her colourful crocheted creations. Heart and Soul will open in the City Walk Arcade in the first week of April and 15-year-old Mackellar’s work will be front and centre, one of only five artists to have their work on show and for sale in the handmade gifts and homewares store.

Nineteen-year-old TAFE student Ella Wood feels as though her nursing career might be back on track thanks to a new critical health care course offered in Albury. The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance has just been launched and means students like Ella can kickstart a career in the care sector. Ella, from Jindera, says she had dreams of being a nurse in high school but her ambitions were put on hold when she decided to leave at the end of Year 10.
