LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentucky Gives Day is now over. The statewide 24-hour fundraiser allowed Kentuckians to donate money to their favorite nonprofit. A total of more than $829,000 was raised in just 24 hours but continued to grow and surpassed $832,000 as of 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. The daylong event supported more than 250 nonprofits across the state, and this year was its 13th annual fundraiser.

Back in March, Jessamine County schools were put on lockdown for what police later called an unsubstantiated threat at East Jessamine High School. Weeks later, a vape was mistaken for a potential firearm at East Jessamine Middle School. Now the district is trying to offer transparency to parents amid safety concerns.
