During the era of increasing globalization, science diplomacy was a key tool for addressing global challenges. Today, among fracturing alliances, the field must evolve. In the three decades after the Cold War ended, science diplomacy became an important component of the foreign policy toolkit. In particular, it became a key tool for responding to global challenges that involve science—including climate change and global development.
