Pronto descubrieron que era sueco, un desarrollador de software libre y experto en informática reconocido a nivel internacional.

Ola Bini was first detained in Quito’s airport six years ago, called a “Russian hacker,” and accused of “alleged participation in the crime of assault on the integrity of computer systems.” It wouldn't take long for Ecuadorean authorities to find out that he was Swedish and an internationally respected free software developer and computer expert.

Las políticas destinadas a fomentar los procesos de gobierno digital están ganando tracción en América Latina, a nivel local y regional. Si bien estas iniciativas pueden agilizar el acceso a los servicios públicos, también pueden hacerlos menos accesibles, menos claros y poner en riesgo los derechos fundamentales de las personas. A medida que avanzamos, debemos hacer hincapié en la transparencia y las garantías de privacidad durante los procesos de transición digital del gobierno.

Policies aimed at fostering digital government processes are gaining traction in Latin America, at local and regional levels. While these initiatives can streamline access to public services, it can also make them less accessible, less clear, and put people's fundamental rights at risk. As we move forward, we must emphasize transparency and privacy guarantees during government digital transition processes.

The Brazilian Supreme Court is on the verge of deciding whether digital platforms can be held liable for third-party content even without a judicial order requiring removal. A panel of eleven justices is examining two cases jointly, and one of them directly challenges whether Brazil’s internet intermediary liability regime for user-generated content aligns with the country’s Federal Constitution or fails to meet constitutional standards.
