March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Around 7,500 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer each year in the UK. What is Ovarian Cancer? The ovaries are two small glands situated on either side of the uterus that form part of the female reproductive system. A layer of tissue, called the peritoneum, supports the ovaries. Cancers of the ovaries, peritoneum and fallopian tubes are often classed as Ovarian Cancer as they are all very close together.

A report released earlier this month by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has identified that over 90 patients suffered harm due to surgeries performed by consultant shoulder surgeon Mr Munawar Shah. This follows concerns raised about Mr Shah’s surgeries, which led to a review of many procedures. The Trust’s investigation found that Mr Shah had caused harm to 91 patients who underwent shoulder and wrist operations.

The Employment Rights Bill is to be a major piece of employment legislation, all part of Labour’s commitment to “Make Work Pay”.
