The Boston Celtics know the task at hand. Head coach Joe Mazzulla’s group is staring at an 0-2 hole in their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the New York Knicks after shockingly blowing 20-point leads in both Games 1 and 2 at home. If the Celtics want any chance of coming back to advance to their fourth straight conference finals (let alone shift the series back to Beantown next week for a potential Game 5), they almost certainly have to win in Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Denver Nuggets took control of their Western Conference semifinals series against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, capturing a 113-104 overtime home win to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven set. Denver was led by point guard Jamal Murray — who recorded a team-high 27 points and game-best eight assists and four steals — as well as power forward Aaron Gordon (22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, game-high +15 plus/minus).

The Boston Celtics are halfway to suffering a massive upset at the hands of the rival New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. One of the primary reasons for the Celtics shortcomings during Games 1 and 2 at home was the shooting of superstar Jayson Tatum. The Duke product has contributed positively in many ways, leading the team in rebounds (15.0), assists (5.5) and steals per contest (2.5) thus far, but his offensive numbers have been abysmal.

Both the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs, courtesy of the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers, respectively. Many basketball fans and experts, however, would argue that the Bucks and Rockets will be headed in opposite directions in the 2025-26 season. Houston just had a 52-win regular season (its most in six years) and has a young, exciting core with All-Star center Alperen Sengun and 2021 second overall pick Jalen Green.
