    Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigeria Army were engaged in gunfire with some bandits, few days after over 30 persons were killed and properties destroyed in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State. According to a statement by the spokesman of the brigade, Captain Olubodunde Oni, the incident happened on Monday, during their men’s patrol of Kwanchi village and one of the troops’ motorcycles developed a fault. It was kept in the village to enable the operation to continue.

    Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS)  have gunned down a suspected bandit  and recovered some arms in Taraba State. According to the spokesman of the brigade, Olubodunde Oni, in a statement, on May 3, the troops at Gafar Village in Ussa Local Government Area, received information that bandits were exploiting a crossing point to harass locals and steal their motorcycles and other valuables. Troops moved to the area and engaged the criminals in a gun battle.

    Some primary school teachers in Taraba State have lamented the poor treatment  from the government, occasioned by the non-payment of five months’ salary arrears and lack of facilities in schools. According to them, the free education policy of the government is not yielding results and has worsened the state of schools and teachers’ welfare since the government has been unable to fulfill its promise. The government had in June 2023 declared a state of emergency in the education sector.
