Some 41 % of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine’s 2025 graduating class is staying in Hawaii for residency training—a 10-point increase from last year that will help chip away at Hawaii’s critical physician shortage. “Having nearly half of the Class of 2025 continuing their residency training in Hawaii proves that JABSOM continues to meet the needs of our state, ” said Dr. Sam Shomaker, JABSOM dean.
