    The entrenched racial inequality in the United States legal system has been well-documented (Bonilla-Silva, 2006; Jeffers, 2022; Kovera, 2019; Pettit & Western, 2004). At the same time, the field of legal psychology, or psychology and law—the study of psychology and the legal system—has largely ignored the effects of this racialized establishment on the lives of the most marginalized.
