ESC Congress 2024 — No difference in cardiovascular outcomes between invasive and conservative strategies in elderly NSTEMI patients. Principal Investigator, Prof Vijay Kunadian (Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust, UK) join us in London to discuss the key findings from the SENIOR RITA trial (NCT03052036; Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust). The SENIOR-RITA trial is a multicenter, open-label study enrolling 1518 patients aged 75 years or older who experienced a type 1 NSTEMI.

It is a sad thing to admit – and no doubt what we’re about to say will be a shock to many – but as cardiologists with decades of experience, our advice to women is this: if you think you’re having a heart attack, take a man with you to the hospital. It may just save your life. Research shows that women’s symptoms are often not taken seriously by emergency medics, but if there’s a man around to advocate the patient is less likely to be dismissed.
