This study found a significantly higher risk of re-revision and early postoperative mortality following first-time single-stage revision hip arthroplasty for aseptic loosening when performed by lower-volume consultants and at lower-volume institutions. The greatest risk of poorer outcomes occurs during the early phase of a consultant’s career, highlighting the importance of education and training.
