INTRODUCTION In March 2023, an unexpected policy change occurred in Türkiye: the government decided to remove the pension age requirement for a large group of citizens, following a years-long campaign by a single-issue movement known as “people stuck in the pension age barrier” [emeklilikte yaşa takılanlar (EYT) in Turkish, referred to as the EYT movement from now on].
